Mid-Race Accident Costs McReynolds Another Top-Five Finish
Fast Car in Practice and Qualifying Carries Over To Early Part of Race

MOORESVILLE, NC (June 29, 2009) Brandon McReynolds learned a huge lesson on Saturday night in the UARA-Stars event at Hickory Motor Speedway.  Sometimes, a racecar driver has a car good enough to win the race, but circumstances can keep it from happening.  When that does happen, all you can do is make the best out of a bad situation and move on.

That is exactly how McReynolds event played out at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday.

McReynolds #28 Airplus Insoles/Sculley Yachts Dodge led the first practice session, was third-quick in the second practice and timed in second in qualifying.  For the first part of the race, he ran in the runner-up spot before slipping a couple of positions just before the halfway mark.

However, a mid-race run in with another competitor forced the team to bring the car to pit road several times to make repairs.  Even though the handling went away, McReynolds was able to bring home an 11th-place finish.

It wasnt the type of finish that we should have had, that is for sure, said McReynolds.   The car was really fast.  I was just riding there when Kyle Grissom and I got into it and he put us into the backstretch wall.  I dont know what happened, because I was giving him plenty of room.  After that, the handling on the car was way off and nothing like it was at the start of the race.  So we just had to salvage what we could out of it.

It was frustrating for sure.  Im not saying that we would have won the race or anything, but we were going to be a top-three car for sure.  If things could have played out, we might have been right there too.  I just hate it for my guys because they work so hard and give me such good cars.  I hate not giving them the finishes they deserve to have.  But that is racing.  We were able to make the best out of a bad situation.  Well just go on to the next race and hope that well be there at the end, fighting to win another one of these races.

The next event for the UARA Stars will be July 4th at Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn, VA.  Brandon and the team will be testing the #28 Airplus Insoles/Sculley Yachts Dodge at Lonesome Pine on Friday, July 3rd.
