New Track Record and Two Top 5's for Pollard in Sun Coast Series

Senoia, Georgia -  - Georgia driver Bubba Pollard headed south for this past weekend's Sun Coast Series action at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida and Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, Alabama.

In Friday nights action in Pensacola, Sun Coast Series points leader Pollard qualified 3rd for  the USA Digital 100 Super Late Model event on the 1/2 mile oval. Pollard had worked up to the 2nd position when the caution was displayed on lap 82 due to another car spinning in turn two. On the restart, Pollard attempted to pass race leader and eventual race winner Johanna Long on the outside but was unable to. "She (Long) had a real good race car tonight and so did we," said Pollard, "I knew that would be my only shot I had to get around her." Pollard finished 2nd.

In Saturday night's action in the Sun Coast Series at Mobile, Pollard set a new Super Late Model track record by qualifying with a 16.827 around the high banked 1/2 mile oval for the Miller Lite 100. "Wow, that was fast. I could tell I had got in a good lap," said Pollard. "We hadn't been that fast in practice though."

In racing action, outside pole sitter and eventual race winner Augie Grill jumped out to a early lead. On lap 30, Pollard headed to the pits during a caution and worked his way back though the field to finish 3rd.

Next up for Pollard is South Alabama Speedway's Viper 100 for Pro Late Models on July 11. Pollard is the current point leader in the Viper Series and has won every Viper Series event this season. "We will be driving for Ronnie Sanders in Opp," said Pollard. " Ronnie really knows how to set up a car for that track.
