by Allen Hastings
Braselton, GA - - In Sunday's Speedfest at Lanier National Speedway, Late Model driver Bubba Pollard of Senoia, Georgia did double duty by competing in the CRA Super Late Model 250 and the Lanier National Speedway Pro Late Model 150.
In qualifying for the Pro Late Model 150, Pollard qualified 6th with a 14.075 lap in the PitBoxes.com/Thrifty Nickel/Ronnie Sanders Motorsports Chevrolet. When the green flag fell, Pollard ran in the top five until lap 30 when Pollard was unable to avoid the spinning car of Austin Hill coming out of turn two. "I didn't have anywhere to go," said Pollard. Pollard went into the pits to the attention of his crew and eventually retired the car on lap 34 with a broken oil line finishing in the 20th position.
In the CRA Super Late Model 250, there was a much better outcome for Pollard. Bubba qualified 2nd with a 13.630 lap around the 3/8ths mile oval putting him on the outside pole next to pole winner Kyle Busch. Bubba ran in the top five all day and had worked up to the 2nd position a couple times and eventually finished 4th.
Pollard is current testing his new dirt Late Model on area dirt tracks. "We have plans to run some dirt races this season," said Pollard. "We're thinking of entering the Bama Bash at Green Valley Speedway in Alabama at the end of the month." Pollard Motorsports next asphalt event is The Rattler at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, Alabama.
